pre calc final guide

The final is about 10 Mc and 7 free response.  The MC are 4 pts for right answers, 2 pts for wrongs.  The free responses are the typical 6 points.  The total would then be 102 points which would serve as 20% of your total grade.


Polynomials, including rational functions, are the major part of the test.(that includes factoring)

4 - finding zeros of a polynomial
2 - writing a polynomial function from a graph or description (including multiplicity)
2- knowing the parts of a rational function (asymptotes, zeros, holes)
1- factoring a polynomial (though factoring will help you with a few other problems)
1- composite function
1- writing a conic equation from description or graph (not a hyperbola)
1 - using a conic equation to determine an ordered pair on the conic (not a hyperbola)
1- log property (though knowing log props will help in another problem)
1 - solving log equation (beware unreasonable answers!)
1- the box problem
1 - knowing the parts of an exponential function (asymptote, key point, general shape of growth vs. decay)
1- writing the equation for a line (may include point-slope)
