last post

Hopefully you are reading this before your final...
Keep studying.  this final matters.  For the record, everyday matters but this one will determine your grade more than any other day so work as hard as you can.   The benefits come later but they will come.  The inverse is also true.  Those who don't hard, the costs will eventually come.

alg II P - study for test; review guide on blog

alg II Hp - study for test;l review guide on blog

alg I P - start preparing for final; check review guide on the blog.

final review guide for alg II P- period 2 only

2 parts to the test:  multiple choice and free response.  MC is has 2 concepts:  rational functions and exponents/ logs.  Be able to solve word problems that involve d=rt.

Be able to solve both types of equations.  See p. 605 in the text to get an idea of the rational functions on the test.  Include the word problems from that page.  For the log problems, see pgs. 526-527.  Those pages cover the mult choice which I think is 10 problems.

For the second part, it is all trigonometry from chs. 13.  From the first chapter, you need to know all the values on the unit circle and the radian amounts, too.  You will need to be able to use both the law of sines and law of cosines, especially in the word problems.  Pgs. 964 and 971 have great examples.  SOh CAH TOA will be integrated into some of these problems so make sure you know how to use right triangle trigonometry.  There will also be 3 problems that are very similar to the ones on pg. 947 (asking for the sin of 300) or pg. 953 (at what angle does tan equal 1?).

I think it has been a great year, with the exception of “you-kow-who,”  and I hope you all can find the energy to focus and finish strong!

review guide for ch 13 alg II P

Your test is next Wed, 5/26, and will have 9-10 problems.

Make sure you know all the radians and x- and y-values on the unit circle.
Make sure you can do right triangle trigonometry.
p. 957 in the text will help you with both of these ideas.

Make sure you can use Law of Sines and Law of Cosines in both triangle and word problems.
Pgs. 974-975 in the text should cover these very well.

We were going to do the graphs but I don't think we are going to make it, so if you focus on the above goals, you should do very well.

Good luck to all of you and if you need help, talk to Brianna (she likes to be called Brie-Brie).

final review guide for alg I

The final exam is mostly the quadratics unit. (90%)

You should be able to solve any quadratic equation by whatever method is required and/ or prefered.  (p. 603  #64-69)

(p. 610 covers the next 3 items.  So does p. 571.)

You should be able to determine the height of any object that is traveling parabolically using either a table or the vertex formula.

You should understand what a solution represents in a quadratic equation.

You should be able to determine how long an object is in the air if it is traveling parabolically.

You should understand which terms are like terms in a quadratic expression and can be combined.  (p. 441  #7-10)

You should be able to factor a quadratic expression (p. 509 #1-6)

In addition, look at p. 595 #17, 47 and the problems from the quadratic performance task.

Be able to make a table of values for an exponential function. ch 11-7.

final review guide for HP alg II

The final will be 2 parts.  The first is mult choice and consists of logs/ exponentials and rational functions.

13 and 14.
From chapter 14, be prepared to solve 4 trigonometric equations a la  p. 1031.  #18-31 are more relevant than the others.  you will have to have most of the identities memorized but not the half or double angle identities.  Lastly, there will be 2 proving identities.  When you are finished crying about that, check out p. 1011 #32-37 or even better the ones from the Prentice Hall book that we did in class.

I think it has been a great year, with the exception of “you-kow-who,”  and I hope you all can find the energy to focus and finish strong!

alg II HP ch 14 review guide

This is early but there should only be 7 problems on the test

2 proving identities

4 solving trig equations

1 use of either a half or double angle identity

Each problem will require some time so even though there are not many problems, it will most likely take 45 minutes to complete.

You will have to memorize the "easy" identities and Pythagorean identities but you will not have to memorize the half angle and double angle identities.  I will give those to you.

We have done a lot of work in the text on pages 1031 and 1011, so make sure you feel good about completing those.   In addition, there have been many days in the Prentice Hall book and those we be good to re-do as well.
