Everybody took a test today.  Hope you did well; you'll make it up tomorrow if you missed today,

Wednesday 2/27

Both classes have tests tomorrow so everyone had a review day.  Both classes have review guides that gave you practice problems.  Do those!

Monday 2/25

Today all classes took the interim assessment online.  The tests were tough but you got stronger by attacking them and doing your best.

All classes have assessments this week so start preparing for them if you haven't already.

Friday 2/22

pre calc - today was the perf task; I know some of you missed it due to trips but the rest got stronger for doing it!

alg I -   We reviewed Thursdays work and presented 8 problems like we did last week.

Thursday, February 21, 2019

Thursday 2/21

pre calc = we had some more time to work on the problems from WEd #50, 51, 61, 64.  We also took questions for the test and did some graphing practice.

alg I -    We had a warm up on exponential functions and did p. 762 in Holt book (red) to get ready for the perf task next week.

alg I review guide for exponential functions

The test is 10-12 problems.  There was a lot to this unit so we suggest that you practice and ask questions!

2 simplifying exponent problems
2 simplifying radicals
4 graphing exponential functions
2 math applications using exponential functions
2 writing numerical values in scientific notation form

Here are some problems you can do to practice.

1.       Simplify:
a.       (4x2)3
b.       (8x3) / (12x8)
c.       (9x3)0 (2x)3
d.       Square root of 48
e.       4 times the square root of 24
f.        Square root of 8 times the square root of 12
2.       Put into scientific notation
a.        2,739,500,000,000
b.       .00000000000000000000000000000000003010
c. (3.9 x 10^24)(5.6 x 10^80)

3.       Graph each
a.       Y = 4 (3)^x
b.       Y= 100 (.=0.5)^x
c. y = 247(1)^x

4.  The population of bacteria in a high school locker multiplies by the hour.  This scenario is modeled by the p(t) = 300(1.3)^t, where p is population and t is time in hours.  How much bacteria is in the locker after 2 days?

5.  Same scenario in problem 4:  How many hours would it be until the population reaches 1 million?

Tuesday 2/19

Welcome back! Hope the long weekend was good for you and you feel like taking on the long stretch up to spring break.

pre calc-   We have now rescheduled the unit test on next Tuesday.  We took test questions today, did a whiteboard review.  Lastly, we practiced for the perf task this Friday by doing #38 on pg. 334.

alg I -   There was a lot to this unit so we had a long warm up to review it.  Our test is next week and there  will be a review guide up later this week.  Lastly, we worked on problems that involved exponential growth.  #10, 11.

friday 2/15

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

pre calc - more 4.7 inverse function work p. 323 #45, 53-63 odds, 65, 66, 73

alg I - we turned in our work and took a quiz.

thursday 2/14

pre calc -  pre calc -   today we actually finished the inverse trig notes and did p. 322, #3-10, 49-51

alg I -    After the M & M follow up from Wednesday, we did a walkabout on radicals and decay graph.  Lastly, we and quiz had notes on growth vs. decay in exponential models.  Work due on Friday.

Wednesday, February 13, 2019

Wednesday 2/13

pre calc -  We started notes on inverse functions.

how to use inverse functions to find radians
how to simplify double trig expressions
how to identity the inverse trig functions

Here are some problems to do!
