Monday 9/26

alg II -   quiz is now postponed until I come back from a family emergency.   Today, we worked on p. 99 - 103  #2, 65 and #3.  Then we took some short notes on solving by inverse operations completed the hw p. 99 #13-21 odds.

alg I p -  Today we prepared for the unit 2 test which is tomorrow!  Keep preparing tonight - practice problems from review guide and/ or videos.

Friday 9/23

alg II -  Today in class, we worked through 3 applications of quadratics.  2 of them are in the book p. 101 #61, 64.  We also did another quad modeling like the ones in section 2.4.  Lastly, there was a list of quadratics to solve and hopefully students practiced factoring them.  Quiz on Wednesday and you can now check out a graphing calculator from the book room.

alg I - Today was warm up 5 where we practiced solving equations and inequalities.  Then we worked in groups using a math application. Students who were present turned in the week of work as well.

Alg I Review Guide for Unit 2 Test

Our test is Tuesday September 27th.  It will be 9-10 questions, all based on problems that we have worked on in class.  If you want to study, here are some places in the textbook that will be helpful.
2.11 in the text has the basic moves to solving an equation.  The problems #1,7,11,16 and 17 are good practice and the answers are in the back for most.  We did #1,3,5 on page 150 and #19 on p. 152 already but you should try them again.
As for applications, go back and look at p. 159 #1,3,4 and p. 165  #6-9.

Outside the book, there is still the triangle sum theorem, a perimeter of a rectangle problem and the WOTTINLTO (Sesame Street) and there should be a few examples of these in your classwork from this unit.

Trying doing some work before the night before as studying over a series of nights is always more effective than trying to relearn everything the day before!

Thursday 9/22

alg II -  In class, we reviewed min/max and quad solutions on a graph.  We spent the rest of the period in groups  doing p. 100 #27-37,39,45

alg I -  In class we did a lot of guided work like p. 171 #12 and p. 170 #13,14.   The rest of the class was spent working on 4 problems in rotating pairs.  This work was turned in at the end of class.  See a teacher if you missed today so you can make it up.

Wednesday 9/21

alg II -  Hey, we watched an art video on the 3 quad forms.  We also verified what domain, range and quad solutions were.  Lastly, we started our 3.1 notes.  No hw.

alg I -   today we reviewed hw # 2-5 and then tried #6 on p. 170.

Monday 9/19

I was not here due to a district meeting but I left work for you to do.

alg II -   p. 87 #2,4-9,11  turn in to the sub before you leave

alg I -  Mr Russell came up with the lesson, listen to what he assigns.  Looks like it was warm up 3.

friday 9/16

Alg II P -  Today we did problems 33,34, 39, 41 on p. 62 and then learned how to do quad regression on the graphing calculator when you have 3 points.  See section 2-4 for problems #10-12, 18

alg I -  Today we went over the writing prompt and then did #24 on p 156.  We finished with the 4 function machine game.

thursday 9/15

alg II -   Today was a short day but we managed to play "Which of these things is not like the other?"   See #2  in 2.2 if you missed today.   No hw tonight.

alg I -   Today we looked at p. 166 #10 and then played "which of these things is not like the other?"  No hw tonight.

9/14 wednesday

alg II -  Today we reviewed the hw and then worked on Desmos trying to match graphs using transformations.  hw is p. 61  #4,5,7,15-18

alg I -     Hw for tonight is p.  165 #6.7,9dab.  We worked on computers exploring graphs and functions. (desmos.com)

tuesday 9/13

alg II - Today we started with #76 in 2.2 and saw how to find a maximum algebraically.  Then we worked on precision in our quadratic transformations.  Hw is 31,32,42,43,45 in 2.1.

alg I -   Today we reviewed the hw and did warm up #2.  We also did our first writing prompt and hw is p. 165 #6, 7,  9dab

wed 9/7

alg II=  Getting closer to the quiz on Friday.  We completed the application from yesterday and worked on identifying transformations from equations.  We were supposed to use the computers but summer school didn't bother to plug the chargers in.  Thanks for nothing, summer school!
Hw is to prepare for the quiz:  re do problems, videos, work with a partner, flash cards, etc.

alg I -   Today we worked as individuals, partners and groups.  We used the book  p. 147  #13, p. 139 #9 and p. 150 # 1,3,5,7,8

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

tuesday 9/6

alg II - Today we did some good chapter review but looking at:  finding transformations in a word problem, transforming an abstract function and working on a application of functions and transformations.  If you missed, see me after class when you return.

alg I -  today we took our pretest and then did notes on how to solve equations using inverse operations.  We did p. 147 #13 in class and #17 is hw.

Friday, September 2, 2016

friday 9/2

alg II - Today we really reviewed well on:  parent functions, transformations, definition of SOE.  We also tried a 3 x 3 SOE.  Hw is to make sure you understand these things.  There is practice in the book, videos on khan academy/ youtube, flash cards on definitions.

alg I -  Today we took our mandatory placement test.  no hw.

thursday 9/1

alg II -  We are getting closer to our unit quiz next wednes.  Today we did a warm up to get us ready for that.  We also did a lot more practice of our 2 x 2 soes.  no hw but as always if you feel like you need more practice on a skill, do so or watch a video.  Either choose on on Youtube or look at the ones I linked in a previous post.

alg i -  We are finishing up our first unit on SMPs.  We had some fun with an ice breaker and then did a group task that involved sequences.
