Finals Week

Check the schedule to see when we have late start and when we have finals.

Also check my blog to see the review guides.  I am altering them daily so make sure you keep up with the changes.

The only way to study for math is to do math problems.  Do the ones on the review guide.  Many of them are odd number problems and have answers in the back.  Others are ones we have done before and I am asking you to do them again.
Bring in any questions while you can!

alg I final Thurs/ Fri

There are 2 parts to the final, 7 question MC and 7 question free response.

Both linear equations and SOEs are the majority of the final.  You can start looking at your linear function test this weekend if you want something to look at.  You will get your SOE test back on Monday.  The grades on that test reflect student effort that I saw the last 2 weeks.

period 2 review guide

There are 2 parts to the final:  MC of 5 questions and 9 free response.  Should take about 1 hr to 75 minutes.

Below is a description of the test, as well as where it can be found in the book.  If you want to study, go to the end of each chapter (quadratics -3, polynomials -4, radicals -5), and work on problems in the "Chapter Review" section.  I will answer questions on Monday and Tuesday and we will work on problems in class.

using a 2 variable function - 2 (every unit) p. 151 # 13
solving a quadratic - 3 (chapter 3- factoring and quad formula) p. 148 # 2, 3 18
solving a polynomial - 3  (4.5 and 4.6)  p. 194 # 10, 34

you will need be able to find imaginary solutions for some of the polynomial problems
rational exponents (Danny!) will be a part of the test
finding extraneous answers could be on the test so plug back in radical equations to make sure.

Thursday 12/14

alg II hp -   A lot of review today, mostly questions about the review guide.  We had a kahoot (congrats, Rail!).

alg II -   We had a kahoot (congrats, Anya!) and did a 2 variable equation.  Finished with a walkabout on 5.3 and 5.4.  Those are the big focus of the test.

alg I -  We started with "wartime!" and then had a math task.

period 1 final review

12-13 questions on the final plus an extra credit.   all free response, no MC.

1 domain and range of a function (Quad or square root)
2 transformations of  parent functions (Quad, square rt. or cube rt.)
1 using a 2-variable equation in an application
3 solving a polynomial/ quadratic (one will have only 1 variable)
2 solving a radical equation
1 applications - finding max volume of a box
1 writing an equation for a polynomial function from solutions / y-int.
1 rationalizing the denominator

Be prepared to simplify answers, including imaginary solutions. quadratic formula will be embedded into a problem, synthetic division will be necessary, factoring sure does help.

I have a few practice problems right now, but stayed tuned and at least you have the gist of it.
