Tuesday 1/30

alg II -   Great class today.  Another pyramid of vocab and a Kahoot.  We also got our notes on log properties and practiced on p. 331   #4, 6, 9-12, 14-15, 19, 21.

Quiz Friday on 6.4-6.5

alg I -  Today we started on p. 519  #5 and 6.  We tried the pyramid of vocab and then did whiteboards to practice the rules of exponents.  If you need to make up the test due to a D or F, you have the rest of the week to do so and it must be done in our classroom in front of us.

monday 1/30

alg  II -  Good start to the week.  We reviewed graphing logs on the whiteboards and then a guessing game on vocabulary.  Classes decided to spend another day reviewing 6.1 through 6.4 so we did
 p. 326 #1, 2, 5-9, 11, 13, 24.
Quiz Friday!

alg I-  test make ups today as well as pre test for the new unit.  Lastly, we took notes on the rules of exponents.

Friday 1/17/17

alg II -  more 6.3 work.  we did problems #56-65 in the book in this section.  good times.

alg I -   unit test for unit 5 ( which is in ch 6 in the text).  You will make it up on Monday if you missed it.

Thursday, January 26, 2017

Thursday 1/26/17

alg II -   We reviewed the hw and then did #67 and 68 in the same section, 6.3.  We finished with whiteboard exercises on 6.3.  No hw but if you still are having trouble on this section, look for a video on youtube or read 6.3 and look at the examples.

alg I -   We prepared for our test which is on Friday!  If you are reading this it means you are on my blog and you can find my review guide a few posts before.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

wednesday 1/25/17

alg II -   we reviewed the info for monday, 6.3.   Your log skills are improving; hw is p. 315 #35, 38,39,43,51.  Gilad is very sad that we did not work out!

alg I -  Today was another day of 4-corners, led by Mr Russell!  We also had our warm up #3 to end the class.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Tuesday 1/ 24/ 17

alg II -  Finished up on geom sequences and started in on logs.  yes, it is confusing but we will spend more time on it.  Today's hw is p. 314 #3-6, 11-14, 17

alg I -   Gumbo day!  We worked in groups on p. 481 in the text. We also had a kahoot! and more wodb.

review guide for alg I test functions

The coming test is on Friday on Functions:  Part II.  There are 10 problems on the test.  Some are worth 4 points, but most are worth 6 points.  Altogether it is worth 52 points.

Here are the problem types:

4-  identifying domain and range

3 - writing a function from a data set

1 - finding a term in an arithmetic sequence

1 - solving a system of equations

1 - knowing the parent functions

I will put problems in the book you can study though it may be better to look at problems from the last 2 hw packets - some assignments were not in your book (arithmetic sequences).

p. 379 #4ace

p. 447 #2,4

p. 469 ##2abc

p. 472 #8a-f, 11

monday 1/23/17

alg II -  More on geometric sequences (8.3)p. 430  #5-9,13,15-17,23,31.  Started with a power point on Fibonnacci sequence and how it relates to art and nature.   Had a wodb on exponential functions.

alg I -  Had a wodb on domain.  Revisited systems of equations in warm up #2 then did whiteboard exercises to finish class.

Friday 1/20

alg II -  Today was  a very gray day and then there was the rain.  Thanks to those who came.  We actually started a new unit within this unit on geometric sequences and got notes on them from 8.3.  We'll do more of them on Monday.  We played a Kahoot and then finished with our quiz.

alg I =  We did two things that were turned in with the work packet.  We did our first warm up and there were 8 problems around the room on our current unit.  Notes on recursive equations happened in between these two things.

Goodbye,  Obamas, we'll miss you!

thursday 1/19/17

I was at a conference today and left plans for the sub to follow.

alg II -   Don't forget about the quiz on Friday.  it is only 3 problems and you have done each one of these problems at least twice.  Most is in 6.1 (solving an exponential and finding the amount in the future of a growth function).  However, there is also some stuff in 6.4, where you transform an exponential function.  We have done it in warm ups and whiteboards (not to mention transforming functions in 4 other units) but today you were to work in 6.4 on # 7-10, 15, 17-21, 24, 54.
See you Friday!

alg I -   Mr Russell was in charge today on his own.  Hopefully you listened to what he said and know if anything is due on Friday.

Wednesday 1/18/17

alg II -  If you were here yesterday, we started a handout on poplation.  We finished today and received our notes on 6.2 and looked at how animal populations approach endangerment.

alg I -  Today we learned about arithmetic sequences and did #1-8 in the Holt book p. 237.  We also reviewed #11 from yesterday's work.

Tuesday, January 17, 2017

Tuesday 1/17/17

alg II -  Today we looked at transformations and a money growth account.
After, we worked in groups exploring the populations of India and China and seeing when they will be the same.  We will work more on this handout tomorrow.

alg I -   Today was our first circle and then we worked in pairs on p. 471 #6-9

Thursday, January 12, 2017

Thursday 1/12/17

alg II -  We had a little more practice with transformations of exponential functions and then we went straight into our practice from yesterday's notes (6.1).  p.  300  #2,3,9,11,13,20-22, 27, 46.

alg I -  Period 4 already did p. 447 #2,4,9 on Wednesday but the other classes worked on it today.  All classes worked on p. 461 #2,4,6,10 today.  Computers tomorrow!

Wednesday 1/11/17

alg II -  Very nice class today where we did whiteboard review on the rules on exponents and graphing an exponential function.  It was a short class so we only had time to take notes on 6.1 after that.  No hw, we will do the work in class tomorrow.

alg I -    ALthough we took notes on it in semester 1, we did take notes again on domain and range, vertical line test and piecewise functions.  We started our practice on it in class; p. 447  #2, 4, 9

tuesday 1/10/17

Welcome back and let's have a great second semester!

alg II -   We reviewed sem 1 and the syllabus.  Then  we took our pre test on our new unit (logs and exponentials).  If time permitted we examined a test question on population,.

alg I -   This class reviewed the syllabus.  Then we talked about functions, did a few whiteboard function problems, then did a perseverance activity to close the class.
