Finals Week

Check the schedule to see when we have late start and when we have finals.

Also check my blog to see the review guides.  I am altering them daily so make sure you keep up with the changes.

The only way to study for math is to do math problems.  Do the ones on the review guide.  Many of them are odd number problems and have answers in the back.  Others are ones we have done before and I am asking you to do them again.
Bring in any questions while you can!

Period 2 Alg II quadratics study guide

Looks like we will have 6-8 questions on our quadratics test.

On it, you will show that you can:

solve any quadratic equation - both real and imaginary answers
graph any quadratic equation
solve a quadratic application problem by developing a strategy (table, guess and check, create equation, graph) and find a solution
write an equation given the solutions of the function
be able to graph a function given the transformations to the parent function

Some application possibilities are:

finding the maximum height of a projectile
finding how long a projectile is in the air
building a pen from fencing to hold your elephants and snakes

  1. Write an equation that has solutions x = -4, 6
  2. solve:  x^2 = -8x -15
  3. solve:  y =  2x^2 +19x + 24
  4. solve:  x^2 -10x = 11
  5. solve:  2(x+2)^2 = 22
  6. Find domain and range for y = -x^2 +6
  7. graph:  f(x) = -3x^2 + 12x -5
  8. How high does a ball go up if its path is modeled by h(x) = -16x^2 + 160x   where x is horizontal distance and h is height.
  9.   You have 1,000 feet of fencing to make 2 pens to hold animals.  What is the maximum area you can make from this amount of fencing.
