pre calc -   Test DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!




alg I -   we had some more factor practice, a problem on area and a Desmos activity on linear equations.

Thursday 3/28

Tests are coming up for both classes and the review guides are out!


pre calc - the test is tomorrow so today we took questions, did whiteboard problems and had a diagnostic about the test.  Study and get a good night's sleep.




alg I -   we practiced factoring and worked in groups on an application on polynomials.

there will be 12 problems on the test and they will be:

adding subtracting polynomials -2
multiplying polynomials - 2
factoring polynomials - 5
unit vocab - 2
system of equation - 1


Here are practice problems:

1.     1. Simplify: (3x² -2 x - 17) + (x²  - 8x)

3.   2.   Evaluate: (x² - 2x + 1) - ( -4x² + x - 6)

4.    3. Expand: (2x - 4)(x - 7)

2.     4. Write a trinomial that is cubic.  Write a monomial that is quintic.

5,  Fully factor each polynomial

a)   x² + 6x +8 

b)   x² - x -12   

c)   2x² - 98 

d)   4x² +18x - 10 

5.     6.  Solve the system.

Y = -x+4

2x + y = 11

wednesday 3/27

pre calc -=  We had a nice application problem on trigonometry, then we had a kahoot and finished with sum difference problems on board.






alg I -   Unit test next Tuesday, review guide up soon.  Today we had warm up 11 on factoring trinomials and then we were in groups doing presentations. 

Monday 3/25 and Tuesday 3/26

pre calc -  we reviewed the quiz and did some test practice from the review guide; we also started 5.4 on sum and difference identities.  in the text book p. 381 #1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 27, 28, 31, 32.




alg I -   A lot of polynomial work,  About 10 problems on p. 500 of the Holt book; a kahoot on multiplying and Desmos if you brought your computer.

thursday 3/21 and Friday 3/22

pre calc- some proof practice, the quiz, some equation practice and some application practice.  One week until the unit test; review guide on prior post.




alg I -  Another composite figure problem; the quiz for this week after a walkabout on mult polynom.; ended class with notes on factoring and a few problems from the Holt book p. 491.

The test will have  12 problems on it.  Most will come from sections 5.1 to 5.3 but there will be a few from 5.4; we will do 5.5 after the test. 



simplifying trig expressions (5,.1) - 3 problems
solving trig equations(5.3) - 6 problems
proving using identities (5.2) - only 1 problem so don't put too much effort into studying this
finding the exact value of trig values at angles like 15, 75, 255, 165 using
sum/difference (5.4) - 2 problems

Wednesday 3/20

Finally a normal day!



pre calc-   we did some whiteboard review on proving using identities; we also started solving trig equations;  check review guide if you want to start preparing for next week'test.



alg I -   we did whiteboards to get ready for our multiplying polynom. quiz this week.  WE also worked on another area and perimeter problem. 

Monday 3/18 to Tuesday 3/19

3rd 2 hour day!



pre calc -  We did a few kahoots! and some trig applications in other books.  Then we did 7 more problems on proving identities.  Quiz later this week.



alg I -   WE did more multiplying polynomials and will have a quiz on it later this week.  WE  then worked in groups on a function task.  Lastly, we worked on page 605 in the green book and turned all of the work in today.

Thursday 3/14 to Friday 3/15

Another long day but everyone is giving very good effort.  Thank you!!


pre calc - We reviewed the hw and quiz from Wed. and we did section 5.2 in book #33, 34, 49, 51-57. 




alg I -  We did some Pythagorean work including proving the Pythag Thereom.  We also did a statistics activity and some bonus points for the puzzle winners.

Wednesday 3/13

Finally a normal day!


pre calc - We had our quiz on 5.1 but we also had some whiteboard practice and some work from 5.2.





alg i -   More opportunities to work with polynomials; 1 problem on geometric polynomials and a walkabout on multiplying polynomials.

Monday 3/11 / Tuesday 3/12

Hey back to some crazy long class schedules.  I'll do my best to change it  up and keep it relevant.. 




pre calc -   we did work in 5.2 #1-8, 11-15, some kahoots  and a task on tidal waves.



slg I -  Quite a bit happened in this time:  more notes on mult polynomials, p. 451 Holt #13-17, 19; kahoot; a task on buying a car;  finally a quiz that you can choose to count or not.

Friday 3/8

pre calc -    More 5.1  #11, 63, 69 and we did whiteboard practice on the identities.  Quiz next wednesday.


alg I -   We did a task on line-of-best fit and turned in.  Lastly we had a quiz.

Today was career day and I hope you juniors enjoyed it.



pre calc  -   For those who were here (Cat!), we did p. 354 #10, 59-62, , 69.



alg I -   WE had a bit more practice on combining like terms p. 442 #45, 35-43 odds;  we finished class with notes on multiplying polynomials.

Wednesday 3/6

pre calc -  We did more work from 5.1 #79-81.  Then after reviewing the hw we did #46, 47, 49, 51, 65-67.






alg I - We had warm up 9 on SOE and SOI review.  After talking about like vs unlike terms, we did more practice out of the Holt book p. 441 #16, 22, 25, 29, 31.

Tuesday 3/5

Short day so we reviewed prior information

pre calc- We went over 6 of hw problems from Monday.  Hw is same pg. 354 #33-41, 47



alg I -    We finished up from Monday and then did combining polynomials p. 441 in Holt #1-4, 9-11, 15

Monday 3/4

pre calc - After we reviewed the test from last week, we took notes on 5.1 and did #7-9, 21-32 in the text.



alg I  We had warm up 8 that reviewed first semester and then went into our new unit, polynomials.  WE worked out of the red Holt book p. 433 #1-4, 8-10, 14, 15, 17, 20.
