I wasn't in class today due to a meeting but here was my expectation that was passed on to you by the sub.
alg II - We looked at problems in the book on solving equations and writing equations from solutions that will help on the test. We will review more tomorrow but hopefully you are doing some work on your own.
alg I - Today you worked on the district task involving skateboards and then practiced more SOE's which you will turn in at the end of the week.

tuesday 11/29
Easy and fun day with the computers
alg II- we had a Kahoot and Desmos on polynomials. Hw is to study for the test coming up. Look at the review guide that is in an earlier post. We also looked at #18 in section 4.9.
alg I - Today we had Desmos after reviewing SOIs and looking at new techniques to solve SOEs. No hw tonight.

Monday 11/28
alg II - W went over the quartic trinomial that is factorable and found solutions through factors. We also did our writing prompt for the unit to work on college and career readiness. Finally, we took notes on 4.9 and completed #3,5, 7-9 on page 223
alg I - We had a review of SOEs and then applied that work to system of inequalities. Hw is the 5 problems on the board.

Alg II Review guide for polynomials
The test will have 9-10 problems.
3 solving polynomials; make sure you know how to use synthetic division and the quad formula to get all solutions including radical and imaginary.
1 on listing all possible rational roots given the equation
2 writing an equation given the solutions; if given the y-int. you may need to add a transformation to make sure it matches in the equation
1-2 volume problems; most likely like the one about making a box from a piece of cardboard
1 domain and range of a polynomial
1 graphing a polynomial based on a written description; knowing the vocab of transformations + max, min, zeros, end behavior
These are all problems we have done in class several times so you most likely have them already but here are the pages in the text to look at if you have misplaced your work.
p. 184 #34, 33
p. 195 #33-35
P. 196 #55
P. 202 #9-13, 21, 22, 47
P. 209 #18-19
P. 218 #50, 52
Don't forget the post that has all the tutorial videos!

monday - wednesday 11/21/16 - 11/23/16
alg II - Today we got our polynomials that we will build a rorschach drawing from. See me immediately if you haven't gotten one yet.
alg I - Below are the directions for our logo project. It is due at the end of class on wednesday.
Linear
Equations Logo Project
Directions: You will create your personal logo that
involves at least 8 lines and determine their equations.
Part
A: Steps
1. Create a coordinate plane
2. USING A PENCIL, draw your
logo on the plane.
3. Choose 8 lines that you will
determine the equation.
·
2 must be positive slopes
·
2 must be negative slopes
·
2 must be a zero slope
·
2 must be an undefined slope
ON
ANOTHER PIECE OF PAPER, you will write the equation to those lines in either
slope-intercept or point-slope form.
Part B: Steps.
1. Choose 2 points on that line
and write them down
2. Find the slope between those
2 points
3. Write the equation in either
form.
***
Extra credit: Write 3 systems of
equations and name the point of intersection.
Grading: 30 points
Part
A: 15 pts. -Logo: neatness (2), creativity (7), coordinate plane visible(2),
effort (4)
Part
B: 15 pts. – math: choosing correct points (3), finding correct
slope (3), making correct equations (9)

Friday 11/18
alg II - A really great performance task happened today! People worked well in their partnerships and look to be close to being ready for the project and test. If you have a moment this weekend, try to solve some polynomials, especially those with imaginary solutions.
alg I - Today we worked on our mathematical writing in the Candy Bar writing prompt. We reviewed what SOEs are and then solved a few unique one; congrats to those who got extra credit. No hw this weekend. Project next week.

wednesday 11/16
alg II - We started with a diagnostic test on solving and writing equations/ p. 195 #51. We finished with whiteboard problems which I found on p. 194 #10-12 and p. 202 #11-13, 31. Hw is to practice solving polynom. using a graphing calc and synthetic division.
alg I - "Which One Doesn't Belong" wodb.com #13, 21. Then we finished in partners working on the final Line of Best Fit exercise.
