1 understanding the connection between parallel lines and perp lines
1 Finding min and max for a function - graph calc could be helpful
1 determining the intervals of increasing/ decreasing
3 Sketches of functions based on written descriptions (no equations)
1 graphing a piecewise function
1 even vs. odd functions
1 composite function   f(g(x))
1 word problem on functions
1 domain and range of a function - transformations

Thursday 9/13

pre calc -   more transformation practice, short notes on transformations,  race!   congrats to the winners.   No hw but look at the transformations 1.4 and brush up on them if you need to.





alg I -    after the warm up 2, we worked on p. 165 #3, 5, 6, 7

Wednesday 9/12

pre calc =      We were able to review the quiz, do some whiteboard exercises where we reviewed the quiz materials and transformations.  Hw is p. 47 #  7, 8   do them without a calculator .




alg I -   After reviewing the previous day's work, we had a WODB and finished in groups on p. 160 #5, 6.  Due Friday.

Tuesday 9/11

Today was a short day so we were not able to accomplish as much as we normally do.



pre calcuclus -   We tried p. 40 #110 in the text.  We also thought about what changes may be necessary to meet the rigor of our course.



algebra I -  We went back and tried to come up with as many ideas on the equation for last week's sequence.  Hw is p. 157 #1-3.

In addition to this, I would recommend walking the razor's edge of parenting; not hovering but still involved to a certain degree.  It could be the last opportunity for them to figure things out on their own before being thrown into the real world (or college).

Beware:  Any senior missing more than 120 classes, will not be eligible to walk the stage at graduation.  This includes excused absences.

Donations are sought and accepted for various activities and supplies, and are at times critical to the continued success of classes and activities, but donations are voluntary.

GRADING - Your scores on the following will determine grades:

CLASSWORK AND HOMEWORK: the biggest factor in your grades!!!

There will be homework 4-5 times a week.  We will collect some of it at the end of the week, some at the end of class.  You may still turn it in the next week for 50-75% credit.  No homework can be turned in more than 1 weeks late.

QUIZZES/ TESTS/ FINAL:

• We usually give 2-3 quizzes and a test a month.  In addition to these, there will be a final in January and in June.  You will take a performance task with every unit.  For these, you will work with a partner and be allowed to use your notes.
• If you miss a test, you will make it up the day you return.  Anyone who fails a test is expected to make test corrections outside of class in my room.
• Cheating will result in a zero on your test.

Assistance:

CONSEQUENCES:

Prompt, seat change, call home, send to house office, class detention, sat. school. Suspension

HOMEWORK:

There will be homework 4-5 times a week. Homework will be checked randomly for completion. If you miss an assignment, you can still turn it in within 3 days for partial credit.  Don’t copy other people’s work!

QUIZZES/ TESTS/ FINAL:

·         I usually give 2-3 quizzes and around  one test per month.  In addition to these, there will be a final in January and in June.  If you miss a test, you will make it up the day you return.  Anyone who fails a test can make test corrections within 2 days.
