Tuesday 2/27

Short day due to the Open House Event tonight


alg II hp - notes on 8.3, geometric sequences.  hw is 8.3 in the book # 5, 6, 13, 15, 25, 31, 47



alg II -  started the class with a quad sequence; review hw; another day on arithmetic sequences; quiz Thursday; hw is p. 422 #31-33, 43, 47, 51.



alg I - performance task tomorrow and unit test on Friday; check the blog for the review guide.  warm up 10 and Growing Dots activity is due on Friday.

4 simplifying expressions with either radicals or exponents
2 word problems using exponential functions
1 multiplying numbers in scientific notation
3 sequence problems (2 writing equations to match the sequence, 1 finding a term in the sequence)
1 finding the length of a line on a coordinate plane
1 graphing exponential functions

In addition to those, you should practice some word problems on exponential functions.

here are some:

a.  Eddie has a virus.  In fact he has 1 million virus cells in his body, though he is fighting it and killing 10% of them each hour.  Once the virus has less than 100 cells, it will be considered gone.  How many hours will it take to get rid of the virus?


b.   I have $10,000 invested in an account that gets 11.4% interest each year.  How much will I have in 18 years?


c.  If a town of 500 becomes 750 in 4 years, what is the rate of growth?

Monday 2/26

alg II hp -  started class with #38 on pg. 415.  After reviewing arithmetic sequences, we did our only day in 8.2 #1, 4-7, 11, 13-15, 23, 24, 29, 39, 40, 62a



alg II -  started class with quadratic sequences.  we reviewed arithmetic sequences and then did p. 422 #1, 3-6, 13-16, 21, 223, 26, 29.



alg I -  Started class with a relay  hw is p. 752 in Holt 21-23, 29, 30, 36, 37  - if you missed class, find out what (1+r)

Friday 2/23

alg II hp -   We were able to look at the Pangolin problem and at a sequence that is not arithmetic or geometric.  Most of class was the district assessment.



alg II -    We were able to look at a sequence where the terms were not related by a factor or a difference.  Most of class was the online district assessment.




alg I -    We turned in work from the week and did our online district assessment.

Thursday 2/22

alg II hp - Had a WODB to start class and then in partners looked at a sequence of growing dots, including recursive equations..  Hw is p. 414 #28, 35, 38, 45-47, 59




alg II -  Had a WODB on sequences.     Worked in pairs on a sequence of growing dots.  Reviewed the hw.  Tonight's Hw is p.  414 #28, 31-33, 39, 40, 51.




alg I -  After reviewing the hw, we had a warm up on rules of exponents and exponential functions.  We worked in groups on a handout on sequnces.  Warm up and handout due on Friday.

Wednesday 2/21

alg II hp -  We did an intro to the unit and then took notes on 8.1.  Hw is p. 414 #2. 3.  7, 15, 28, 40. 




alg II -  We had our pre test to the unit.  After we tried some unit problems on p. 4141 #2, 3, 6, 7, 15.




alg I -    Video on writing google.  We also had whiteboards to review the unit and we worked in groups on p. 735 in Holt #2-4, 6, 7, 32.
