thursday 6/29

lot of good stuff here:   similarity quiz; volume project, similarity activity outside using proportions and right triangles;  we did do some work on volume of cones and pyramids - 3 problems from each section.

Both effort and grades look good...keep it up!

Wednesday 6/28

We finished the work from 8.3 today doing p. 441 about 10 problems.   We also spent a good time of the class on the computers for Desmos, Geogebra and Kahoot.   We also had a lot of group work on area and making lines out of a certain amount of points.  At the end, we did a writing prompt on comparing SA and volume for a beverage can.

Tuesday 6/27

Lots happened today.  We had a warm up to prepare forthe quiz on volume and SA.  We also reviewed the parallel lines and solving quadratics.  The class did whiteboards on angle measurements of polygons and rearranged a hexagon.  After the quiz we looked at composite figures.  The end of the class looked at similarity shortcuts.  Writing prompt ended the day.

Monday 6/27

Started our new units - similarity and SA /volume

There were notes that involved constructions, triangle classification and similarity.

The book work that matched it was p. 423 #2,3,5-7, 12, 14, 18-20, 23,26, 41


As for SA and volume, we took notes on 11.4 and 11.5/ 11.8
 and did book work p.621 (together as a class), p. 631 #4,5,7,8,9,13,15 and p. 652 #2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 15, 25.

thursday 6/22

Great job on the test!

Besides the test, we also worked on constructions, p. 59 in the text.  Finally, we took notes on 3.5 and completed side 1 of the handout on parallel and perp line equations.

Tomorrow we complete week 1; only 4 more to go!

Wednesday 6/21

We had some great activities today:  kahoot, fractal geometry, p. 52 -12 problems, area and perimeter of a obtuse triangle that is on the coordinate plane and the crazy angle handout.

test tomorrow on unit 1(ch 1 plus 3.1, 3.2)

Tuesday 6/20

Was another great day of learning!

We finished up a lot of chapter 1 with p. 26 #39, p. 34 #13, 16 and p. 44 #19-21, 28, 30.

We also had a nice group activity on finding area of a kite in a square and a writing prompt on class benefits.

Monday 6/19/17 First day

Hi and welcome to the class.

We went over the syllabus and expectations as well as received our textbook.

After getting notes on the foundations of geometry, we practiced on whiteboards and  had work in the book on p. 24 #3, 4, 7, 8, 15, 16, 19, 20, 23, 24.
