Spiderman jumps from the top of a building to a ledge that is
22 feet off the ground. His height
during the fall is shown by the model g(t) = -16t2 + 11 with t
standing as time. At how much time
after his jump will he arrive at the ledge?
6.
Simplify these rational expressions - looks like my copy and paste did not work for the rational expressions. Check your notes and classwork for practice problems.
(a)
(b)
7.
Make sure that you can do the POU and other word
problems that involve writing a quadratic from 3 points such as the ones on
page 379.
8.
A hunter shoots a dart through a blowgun. The dart travels by M(t) = – 5t2
+ 10t + 2 where M(t) is height and t is time in seconds. He is trying to hit a wild turkey that
is in a tree that is 4 meters off the ground. Will the dart hit the turkey? Explain your reasoning.

alg I review guide for test 9/19
For the test on Friday, be prepared to:
solve a multi-step equation: 3x+5-x = 25
solve an equation with variables on both sides: 3x - 8 = 7x + 16
solve and graph the same problems as above but as an inequality
isolate a variable in a 2 variable equation or formula
solve an absolute value equation: /x+7/ - 4 = 25
Word problems:
be able to set up a proportion in a problem that compares two things - one big, one small
be able to set up an equation with variables on both sides when the problem is talking about the better of 2 options.
be able to set up an inequality when finding the better of 2 options.
be able to use the triangle sum theorem to set up a multi step equation and solve to find x.
Reminders: remind yourself how to convert a percent into a decimal!

alg II P Review Guide for Unit 1 test on Tuesday
1. Make sure you can graph an equation based on its parent function and transformations:
ex. 1 y = -(x+2)^3 -7 is a cubic function that has 3 transformations with its major turning point at
(-2, -7)
2. Be able to identify transformations by name. In the example above, I would say: vertical reflection, horizontal shift of 2 to the left, vertical shift down 7.
3. Be able to write domain and range of a function in interval notation.
ex. 2 for the equation in ex. 1, I would say that all values can be used for x so domain would be
(-infinity, infinity). However, the graph is a negative parabola and it cannot go higher than -7, so its range would be (-infinity, -7) except it would be a hard bracket next to the -7 ( I can't find that symbol in this application).
4. Be able to graph a piecewise function from an equation.
ex. 3 y= x+4 when x<3 and y = x^2+5 when x >3
5. Be able to go in reverse of the above. Look at a graph of a piecewise function and be able to write the equation including the intervals for each piece.
